Types of Volunteer Roles and Schedules

CARECEN thrives thanks to the dedication and generosity of our volunteers. Volunteers of all backgrounds and skill sets are crucial to our work and are always welcome to support our programs.

Due to the nature of our work, we require that all our volunteers be fluent in a language other than English, particularly Spanish, Haitian Creole, Pashto, and Dari.

Please look at the role descriptions below and the required commitment for each. And only apply to those roles for which you can meet the commitment.

Once a completed application is received, a volunteer coordinator will contact you via email with the next steps.

The team at CARECEN appreciates your interest in working with us and supporting our mission!

Accompaniment  for a client might be needed between Monday and Friday,

anytime from 8:00am to 5:00pm, for a variable duration of time that day.

You will be contacted ahead of time with an assignment, and given the date and approximate duration. It is ok to decline a request if it doesn’t work, but once you commit it is important for our client that you follow through with the commitment.

Mondays 6:30pm-8:30pm / Wednesdays 6:00pm-8:00pm / Saturdays 9:00am-11:00am

The volunteer must commit to one of those days for a full quarter (10 weeks)

Every Helping Hands volunteer has a different schedule depending on the volunteer’s location and availability to:

- Attend community events and workshops

- Conduct an information Session

- Get involved in different CARECEN programs

Mondays 6:30pm-8:30pm / Wednesdays 6:00pm-8:00pm / Saturdays 9:00am-11:00am

The volunteer must commit to one of those days for a full quarter (10 weeks)

Volunteer translators/interpreters would be asked to help on a project-by-project basis (no weekly commitment required) and in most circumstances can volunteer remotely.

Once the volunteer is included in the interpreters/translator pool they may receive an email with the request directly from the legal or social work team.

It is ok to decline a request, if it doesn’t work for your schedule, but we appreciate that you respond to the communications. If the request works for you, you will receive further instructions from the organizer.

Volunteer tutors would be asked to help on a project-by-project basis and in most circumstances can volunteer remotely.

Once the volunteer is included in the tutors pool they may receive an email with the request directly from the CARECEN volunteer coordinator or staff member working with the client.

If the request works for you, you will receive further instructions from the organizer.

Tuesdays 6:30 pm-7:30 pm & Thursdays 6:30 pm-7:30 pm via Zoom

The volunteer must commit to one of those days for a full quarter (10 weeks)
